Every Entrepreneur Needs a Day Job

by Administrator on January 28, 2013

Every entrepreneur does need a day job. This shouldn’t come as a shock to you. Many entrepreneurs are dreamers and thinkers and feel that they can’t function in a corporate environment with rules and organization. But that’s exactly why most entrepreneurs need to have day jobs. Such a notion may be against the core beliefs of many entrepreneurs, but having a day job is beneficial for many reasons.

The first and most important reason probably has to do with gaining experience in the industry of the entrepreneur’s choice. If an entrepreneur wants to create an internet company,  he or she can benefit from working in one for couple of years. Doing so will allow the entrepreneur to acquire many of the important business skills for success. These may include skills in selling, purchasing, customer service support and etc.

A second and another very important reason for every entrepreneur having a job is the fact that entrepreneurs need to make connections. It is clearly evident that in the last few decades, networking  has become the most important tool for starting careers and meeting like-minded entrepreneurs. Computer giants such as Apple and Microsoft certainly started with partnerships between individuals with passion. There isn’t much else to say about networking except that it works. If you meet an executive at work, he or she could become a funding source for your future company. Why not?

Lastly, although fairly obvious, entrepreneurs need to pay bills too. You simply cannot be thinking and creating all day long. You need money for groceries, utilities and mostly importantly, you need money for your business. This means before a star-up becomes successful, every entrepreneur needs a day job.
